Enloe’s Food Pantry — a collaborative effort with the Inter-faith Food Shuttle — opened in spring 2014 to serve Enloe students and their families. More than a third of students receive free or reduced-price lunch, which means they could be at risk for hunger. The school also has families in transition who can benefit from additional resources.
We believe the Food Pantry is a tremendous opportunity for us to reach our families in a new way. We recognize that families across all backgrounds are struggling right now because of the economy. We know from Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs that children cannot be expected to sit and learn in a classroom when they are hungry. If we have the opportunity to help meet this basic need, we are going to take it.
Parents coming to the pantry will need to check in at the front office before meeting their child’s counselor in Student Services.
